The paintings drawn by Ishibashi, who is familiar with the characteristics of Japanese painting materials, look gray (plural). The light that hits the screen on which particles such as mineral pigments are layered is intricately refracted or diffusely reflected and reaches the viewer's eyes, visualizing an intermediate sensation in reality.

つぎつぎのつ

TSUGITSUGI NO TSU 200 x 135x20 mm 2021 book

Hiroyuki Tanaka creates various objects using old books as materials.Printed on the pages of the book, such as "Tsu" of hiragana and "One after another" with only the line spacing left and the others cut off, "Language sample beyond the grove" expressed with only punctuation marks and line spacing left. Tanaka's work, which is interested in the attributes of letters as forms or substances, quietly shakes our belief that letters are a means of mediating meaning, and also reminds us of the mysterious possibilities of words.
